Half a million steps 😳

Yes, that is correct. According to my step counter, since we started on the Camino I have now walked 512,475 steps!!

What in the world?!

I’m not quite sure what to think about that.

Are 500,000+ steps on a pilgrimage different from the same number of steps in everyday life?

It would take me a lot longer to reach that number of steps of course. In my normal life I average 8500 steps a day. At that rate it would take me about 2 months to reach what I have achieved in 3 weeks on pilgrimage.

I think maybe it comes down to the intentionality of the steps, and perhaps something to do with the destination.

This Camino has been a planned time set aside, to have my feet intentionally in two realms - the spiritual and the physical (which I finally figured out yesterday- better late than never 😊). And this pilgrimage has a specific destination - Santiago de Compostela.

As we get close to the end of this Camino I’ve been wondering how I can continue the pilgrim’s path once I get home? What does it look like to journey to a specific destination locally, with my heart, mind and soul connected to the spiritual and physical path? I have some ideas 😊.
