Day 16 of 365 - getting brave - putting it all together
It’s Sunday tomorrow and there are many ways we could take the ideas from this week and make some progress. The hope for this year of Road to General Conference 2019 blog posts is to encourage as many of us as possible to let our voices and hopes for an inclusive UMC be heard, especially in our local context.
What will you do tomorrow? Will you…
❓ Find a friend or two who can be a help and encouragement to you as you seek to tell your story (maybe you can encourage them to tell their stories too)?
❓ Make a plan to meet up with one of these friends and practice telling your story to them?
❓ Decide who will be the best person to have a first conversation with, and make a plan to meet up with them?
Any step in any of these directions would be marvelous. I especially want to encourage those of you in more conservative leaning churches. Your voice is so very important.
Action: Decide which of these suggestions above you will try tomorrow – or choose another one. If you’re part of our Facebook group share in there what you plan to do and then let us know how it goes. If you’re not in the group yet, send me an email and I’ll add you.
Extra Credit: Share this blog post with a friend or two. I am really hoping we can find a way to include people in this journey who might not have realized they have a part to play in this whole moment in the UMC. Everyone has a voice, let’s encourage each other to use it.
Full confession: I am in England right now and tomorrow is Mother’s Day here so I won’t be in church tomorrow but will be spending time with my Mum and Step-Mum - which will be lovely!
Handy reminder: if you are in the US don’t forget to Spring Forward and set your clocks forward one hour this evening to avoid being late to church 😃
